Unila partners with BRIN to establish Cassava Research Collaboration Centre

The University of Lampung (Unila) has entered into a partnership with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to establish a Cassava Research Collaboration Centre (PKR).

“The proposal to form the Cassava PKR received immediate support from BRIN Head Arif Satria, who asked Unila to prepare a comprehensive proposal with tangible impact,” said Unila Rector Prof Lusmeilia Afriani in a statement in Bandarlampung on Sunday.

She said one of Unila’s flagship research focuses is the Cassava Centre, given that Lampung is the largest cassava-producing region.

“Moreover, Unila has three main pillars of strength in this regard, namely massive human resources, academic strength and expertise, and promising gender balance,” she said. “This will certainly produce high-quality cassava products with global competitiveness.”

Meanwhile, BRIN Head Prof Arif Satria asked Unila to prepare a comprehensive proposal related to the Cassava PKR that delivers real impact. Arif also emphasised BRIN’s direction in advancing research and innovation to increase the productivity of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and strengthen the national private sector industry.

“In addition, we also facilitate the co-development of advanced global technology so that it can enter Indonesia,” said Arif Satria.
