Unika Atma Jaya Empowers Bogor Farmers Group Through Mushroom Cultivation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Community Service (PkM) team from the Faculty of Bioscience, Technology, and Innovation (FBTI) at Unika Atma Jaya is empowering a farmers’ group in Bogor Regency to develop mushroom cultivation, following the receipt of a community service grant for 2026 from the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) of Kemdiktisaintek.
Anastasia Tatik Hartanti, a lecturer at FBTI and Head of the Community Empowerment Centre at Unika Atma Jaya, stated that the university has partnered with the Asri Berseri Farmers Group in Ciomas Rahayu Village, Ciomas District, Bogor Regency, as a partner in the activities which have been underway since May 2026.
“Through this activity, it is hoped that the partners can be initiated to create job opportunities for themselves and those around them, while also providing opportunities for students to participate in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (Emancipated Learning) programme,” Anastasia said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.
She explained that the activity primarily aims to support government programmes included within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely ending poverty and ensuring prosperity for the community by 2030, through the results of lecturers’ research in the field of food focus.
Furthermore, the assistance is also expected to encourage the farmers’ group partners to become skilled in mushroom cultivation, which holds significant economic value.
Farmers were introduced to various types of edible mushrooms with high economic value, including oyster mushrooms and wood ear mushrooms, as well as their market potential.
Subsequently, the team and the farmers’ group began the cultivation process for oyster and wood ear mushrooms in the production area. The partners are also receiving continuous guidance and instruction online, via both chat and video calls. This intensive mentoring is conducted to ensure optimal mushroom growth.
Anastasia also hopes that the farmers’ group partners will be able to develop mushroom cultivation skills independently and sustainably through the guidance provided by the Unika Atma Jaya team.
“This programme is a tangible manifestation of the university’s contribution to empowering the community, particularly in Ciomas Rahayu Village. By utilising local potential based on innovation, it is hoped that this capacity building can open new business opportunities and ultimately improve the economic welfare of the farming partners,” Anastasia remarked.
The Community Service (PkM) team from FBTI Unika Atma Jaya involved in the programme consists of lecturers and students, including Anastasia Tatik Hartanti, Yasinta Ratna Esti Wulandari, Meda Canti, Dennis Frederick Kwo, and Delbert Lee Muliawan.
