An unidentified man was found dead, allegedly from electrocution, on the roadside of Jalan Raya Pererenan, Desa Pererenan, Kecamatan Mengwi, Badung. The victim was discovered in a prone position with a rigid body near an electrical pole.

“We received a report of a male body found, strongly suspected to have died from electrical shock on the west side of a Pertamina fuel station. When officers arrived, the victim’s left hand was still holding a pair of wire cutters,” said Mengwi Police Chief, Kompol Anak Agung Gede Rai Darmayasa, on Sunday (1 March 2026).

The discovery began when an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojol), Riski Budianto (24), passed the location around 12:30 Wita. Riski initially mistook the victim’s body, lying among tangled cables, for a doll.

“The witness became suspicious, turned back to verify, and found it was actually a person collapsed beside an electrical pole surrounded by cables. He immediately reported the discovery to traffic officers on duty at Simpang Kangkang,” said Agung Rai.

Another witness, Erna (34), a flower seller in the area, also confirmed an online motorcycle taxi driver had reported the incident. Based on the crime scene investigation by the Badung Police Identification Team, a burn wound was found on the hand below the victim’s index finger.

“When examined, the body was indeed rigid and no identity card was found on the body or any belongings. The team at the scene found a burn mark on the area below the index finger that strengthens the suspicion of electrical shock,” explained Agung Rai.

Besides the wire cutters, police secured several pieces of evidence from a compact bag belonging to the victim containing a utility knife, two lighters, and two cigarettes. Officers also found cash totalling 82,000 rupiah and a Honda Supra motorcycle key bearing registration number DK 3509 ABU.

“The body of this unidentified person has been evacuated to RSD Mangusada Badung using a Badung PMI ambulance for further processing. We are still awaiting family members who believe they have lost a relative or anyone who recognises the vehicle,” Agung Rai stated.
