Unidentified man dies after being struck by a KRL at Lenteng Agung

An unidentified man was found dead after allegedly being struck by a Kereta Rel Listrik (KRL) on the KM 24/300 downline of the Bogor-Kota route in Lenteng Agung. The incident occurred in the Lenteng Agung area, Jagakarsa District, South Jakarta, on Tuesday, 19 May.

The Jagakarsa Police Sector confirmed that it was handling the discovery case. Jagakarsa Police Chief, Comr. Nurma Dewi, said that the initial report had been received from station authorities. ‘We received information that there was a person hit by a KRL on the KM 24/300 downline of the Bogor-Kota route,’ Comr. Nurma Dewi told reporters in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The incident was first noticed at approximately 05:40 WIB. Officers received a report from the driver of KRL number 1169 on the Bogor-Kota line via the Lenteng Agung Station announcer. In response, KAI security personnel together with police conducted a search at the scene.

From on-site checks, officers found a male who was deceased near the railway tracks. Based on an initial examination, police described the victim as a man of medium build, estimated to be about 25 years old with a fair complexion. At the time of discovery, he was wearing a blue long-sleeved shirt.

The police have questioned two witnesses at the scene for statements. Comr. Nurma explained that several handling steps had been taken, ranging from crime-scene processing to recording witnesses.

‘The victim was then taken to Fatmawati Hospital for autopsy and further identification,’ he added. The police have also coordinated with the identification team of the South Jakarta Metropolitan Police to determine the victim’s identity.

As of this report, the identity of the man remains unknown. Police continue to conduct in-depth investigations to establish the exact cause of the incident and locate the victim’s family.
