Unidentified bodies buried in Bogor

BOGOR (JP): After being stored and unclaimed for three weeks in the local Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Hospital's morgue, five unidentified bodies were buried at Blender Public Cemetery in Kebon Pedes on Sunday.

Two morgue attendants, Yusuf and Suwitno, said the Rp 70,000 burial fees for each of the adult remains were covered by the hospital.

According to Yusuf, staff at the morgue had recorded details of wounds, identifying marks and the causes of death in a bid to help relatives who may one day appear at the hospital.

He added that families of missing, unidentified bodies sometimes made inquiries at the hospital up to nine months after burial.

The hospital received the five bodies at different times from five different police stations in Bogor.

It is thought that one body was that of a murder victim because his face had been burned off and there was a lengthy wound in the abdomen.

Another body was that of a man in his 60s. It is believed the man committed suicide by drinking poison.

Ciomas Police delivered a body of a man aged about 25 who drowned in Situ Kranggan, Ciomas.

A fourth body was of a woman aged about 60 who had drowned in Pakancilan River, and the fifth one was a male in his 20s who was hit by a train in Kebon Pedes. (21/edt)
