UNICEF gives awards to talented children

JAKARTA: The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the
Office of the State Minister of Women's Empowerment will announce
on Wednesday three recipients of the Youth Leaders Award 2004.

Fifty-two children from 15 provinces have been nominated by
non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for awards, the selection
of whom involved NGO representatives, teenagers, public figures
and government institutions.

President Megawati Soekarnoputri will confer the awards in
conjunction with National Children Day on July 23.

Each award recipient will receive Rp 5 million from Bank Niaga
as savings deposits and Rp 2 million from PT Astra CMG Life
insurance as checks. --JP
