Bengkulu (ANTARA) - The University of Bengkulu (UNIB) has admitted 35 international students from 10 countries through an international student admission pathway, which was organised systematically for the first time for the 2026/2027 odd semester.

“This is the fruit of various efforts we have undertaken to strengthen UNIB’s position at the international level. The high interest from prospective international students shows that our internationalisation strategy is starting to bear fruit,” said the Rector of UNIB, Prof. Indra Cahyadinata, in Bengkulu on Monday.

The 35 students originate from Vietnam, Sudan, Thailand, Yemen, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Palestine, and China, with the largest group coming from Pakistan, consisting of 16 individuals.

Previously, although the quota prepared by UNIB was only around 30 to 50 students, the number of prospective students who applied through the registration application and completed the selection documents reached thousands of participants from over 60 countries.

This high level of interest represents a new development in UNIB’s international student admissions, which had not previously been conducted through a systematic admission mechanism as seen in 2026.

Prof. Indra stated that the selection process for international students considers not only academic aspects but also learning motivation, communication skills, academic readiness, the ability to adapt to Indonesian culture, and the commitment to completing studies at the University of Bengkulu.
