UNIB to Select 1,367 International Applicants from 60 Countries
Bengkulu - The University of Bengkulu (UNIB) will select 1,367 prospective international students who have completed the registration process for the 2026 international student admission.
The number of prospective international students who entered the registration application and expressed interest in studying at UNIB reached 4,813. Of that number, 1,367 have completed the entire registration process by submitting their applications and all required documents, said UNIB Vice Rector I for Academic Affairs Prof. Kamaludin in Bengkulu on Tuesday.
Kamaludin stated that the 1,367 applicants will subsequently undergo a selection process scheduled for 13-18 July 2026. According to him, the selection is conducted in three stages: administrative selection, interviews, and a final assessment to ensure the academic readiness and adaptability of prospective students before attending lectures at the University of Bengkulu.
The selection results will be announced on 27-31 July 2026. Faculties in high demand among international applicants include the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Law, and several other study programmes within UNIB.
He explained that the high number of applicants has prompted the university to prepare various supporting needs, including the possibility of increasing the intake capacity, which was initially set at 50 places.
“We are also continuously coordinating with faculties and study programmes regarding the possibility of increasing capacity. On the other hand, various supporting facilities such as dormitories and accommodation needs for international students are being prepared so that this programme can run optimally,” said Kamaludin.
Meanwhile, UNIB Rector Prof. Indra Cahyadinata said the high interest from international students is the result of the internationalisation strategy that the campus has been pursuing through strengthening international academic networks, improving the quality of education, and expanding cooperation with various universities worldwide.
According to him, in addition to academic ability, the selection process also considers the diversity of participants’ countries of origin, learning motivation, communication skills, readiness to adapt to Indonesian culture, and commitment to completing their studies, so that the presence of international students can enrich the academic atmosphere within the UNIB campus environment.
