Unhas Rector: Time to Expand Contributions to Global Level

Makassar (ANTARA) - Rector of Universitas Hasanuddin Prof Dr Jamaluddin Jompa stated that the role of a full professor is not merely a symbol of the highest academic achievement but also a representation of intellectual leadership with significant responsibility in providing solutions to various societal challenges.

“Unhas possesses a vast academic resource strength. It is time for us to step forward not only in resolving local problems but also national and global ones,” he said at the Inauguration and Admission of Members of the Professors’ Council for four full professors in Makassar.

He expressed appreciation to all Unhas full professors for their dedication, scientific contributions, and ongoing service to the advancement of higher education and national development.

Furthermore, Prof Jompa encouraged the full professors not to hesitate in taking on broader roles in policy-making spaces, research development, innovation, or community service that directly impacts the public.

According to him, higher education institutions are currently demanded to be more adaptive and present themselves as centres of solutions to the nation’s increasingly complex issues.

He placed great hopes that Unhas full professors would continue to take strategic roles as drivers of campus transformation that provide real benefits to society.

He reiterated that full professors are not only required to produce advancements in knowledge and academic innovation but also to serve as exemplary figures, uphold academic ethics, and strengthen scientific integrity within the higher education environment.
