Makassar (ANTARA) - The Rector of Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Prof Jamaluddin Jompa, has confirmed that there will be no increase in the Single Tuition Fee (UKT) for students in 2026. In his statement in Makassar on Wednesday, Prof Jamaluddin Jompa acknowledged that UKT is a sensitive issue as it affects many parties, particularly the parents of Unhas students. “We are responding to the current socio-economic conditions of the community, which is still struggling. We will not raise the UKT, even though the Single Education Cost (BKT) must be compensated from other sources,” said Prof Jamaluddin Jompa amid the implementation of the 2026 Computer-Based Entrance Test (UTBK). The Unhas Rector stated that his institution continues to focus on improving educational quality and Unhas’s revenue as a Public University with Legal Entity (PTNBH) through Unhas-owned business entities. On that occasion, Prof Jamaluddin Jompa reiterated his commitment that no Unhas student should discontinue their studies solely due to financial issues. “So I emphasise that there is no such thing as a student stopping their studies because of lack of funds. We will do whatever it takes to prevent that from happening,” said Unhas Rector Prof Jamaluddin Jompa.
