Makassar (ANTARA) - Rector of Universitas Hasanuddin Prof Jamaluddin Jompa (JJ) stated that global adaptation and mastery of technology are the keys to competitiveness. Prof JJ in Makassar on Thursday underscored the urgency of strengthening adaptive capacity, technological literacy, and a developing mindset as the main foundation for graduates’ readiness in responding to global transformation. He explained that global transformation, marked by energy crises, geopolitical escalations, and technological disruptions, has significantly altered economic structures and labour markets. In this context, he said, graduates are faced with the need to possess high adaptation capacity and the ability to read changes as part of sustainability strategies. “Today’s world of work not only requires technical manpower but individuals who can learn quickly, think critically, and adapt in constantly changing situations,” he clarified in front of the April 2026 graduates. According to him, along with these various changes, industry needs are also shifting towards more adaptive competencies. The concept of learning agility becomes crucial, namely the individual’s ability to learn quickly, adapt to new environments, and effectively solve complex problems. Digital literacy is no longer limited to operational aspects but encompasses the ability to evaluate the validity of information and build data-based arguments. In the dimension of individual development, a growth mindset is positioned as a key factor in supporting successful adaptation. “Digital literacy is not just about being able to use technology, but how you are able to think critically, sift through information, and produce responsible solutions,” added Prof JJ.
