Unhas Prepares AI Programme to Face Developments of the Times

Makassar - Rector of Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), Prof Dr Jamaluddin Jompa (JJ), stated that the university is preparing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Study Programme in response to the increasingly advanced developments of the times.

Prof JJ in Makassar on Monday said it is important to prepare anticipatory steps to face changes that are so rapid so that Unhas can always adapt to the existing challenges.

The intellectual form is how to plant rice using drones, which is truly pure because it is a need for Indonesia.

“I give an example of the drone. The drone is not bought by us, but made by us, and other countries do not have it yet; even some countries want to emulate it although the components are still partly from outside,” he said after his inauguration as Rector of Unhas for the 2026-2030 period.

On that occasion, he emphasised the campus’s support for Asta Cita, which is a programme of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.

According to him, Asta Cita, which is the core programme of the President, also becomes part of the campus programme to support the acceleration of achievement, particularly in improving societal welfare.

At the same time, it contributes to solving the challenges or problems faced by the nation, whether by the government, industry, society, or the world of education.
