Unhas Inaugurates 122 New Officials to Boost QS WUR Ranking
Makassar (ANTARA) - Unhas Rector Prof Dr Jamaluddin Jompa inaugurated 122 new structural officials and heads of work units, marking a moment of strategic consolidation to achieve the university’s targets, one of which is boosting Unhas’s ranking in the QS World University Rankings (QS WUR). In Makassar on Monday, Prof Dr Jamaluddin Jompa reminded the new officials not to rest on their laurels with the QS WUR achievement of Unhas being ranked 851-900 globally. Instead, the achievement attained by Unhas in 2025 must serve as motivation to focus and work harder so that the ambition of entering the world’s top 500 can be realised. “The ambition to break into the world’s top 500 is indeed a heavy task, but what we are doing is already on the right track. Essentially, to achieve that target, we must make a leap of 100 places per year. Because if we only jump one place, it will take a very long time,” he said while inaugurating 122 new officials and simultaneously dismissing 77 old officials in Makassar. Prof JJ stressed the importance of uniting the vision of all leaders so that every unit moves in the same direction. According to him, collaboration is the main factor in accelerating the achievement of the university’s strategic targets. On the occasion, Jamaluddin Jompa likened world university rankings to a MotoGP event. When Unhas is in front, the campuses behind will continue to strive harder to overtake. “We used to know Valentino Rossi, and now it is the era of Marc Marquez. If they are in front, the racers behind will fight hard to get past,” he said before hundreds of new officials. “That is in the context of racing; in the context of a World Class University, it is not easy. Do not feel that because we are more united, better, and have published more, we can then become complacent and not dare to leave our comfort zone,” continued Prof Jamaluddin Jompa.
