Unhas female student dies after allegedly jumping from Engineering Faculty building; had sent a voice note to a friend beforehand
An undergraduate student from Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Faculty of Engineering (FT), class of 2024, was found dead after allegedly jumping from a campus building. The victim had reportedly sent a voice message to a friend shortly before her death.
Kepala Bagian Humas Unhas Ishaq Rahman stated that the incident occurred at the FT Campus, Unhas, Jalan Malino, Gowa Regency, on Monday (18/5/2026). The tragedy was discovered after a student reported to campus security.
“Last night, around 20:00 Wita, the security post 1 FT security guards named Ardiansyah and Joni were approached by a student who asked to be summoned for an ambulance because a friend had fallen from the first floor, the reporter said, allegedly after leaping,” Ishaq said, as quoted by detikSulsel, on Tuesday (19/5).
The campus security then contacted other officers patrolling the vicinity. The victim was subsequently evacuated to Yafika Hospital, but was pronounced dead.
“So the parents and the victim’s friends went to the hospital,” he added.
Before the incident, according to Ishaq, the victim had sent a voice message to a friend. The voice message was then forwarded to the victim’s parents.
“The parents also went to the campus with the victim’s friends to look for the victim, but could not find her. When the parents and other friends went to the security post to request the building keys to search inside, the security officer reported that the victim had been found and was being taken to Yafika Hospital,” he explained.
