Unhas and NUS Nursing Students Exchange Knowledge on Modern Healthcare Systems

Wakil Dekan Bidang Akademik dan Kemahasiswaan FKep Unhas, Syahrul Said, stated that amidst increasingly complex global health challenges, learning from different healthcare systems is crucial in shaping adaptive, critically thinking nurses ready to serve community needs. “We are not only welcoming students, but also opening a space for cultural and experiential exchange between Singapore and Indonesia, particularly Makassar,” he said during the reception of 21 students from Singapore. He noted that the visit serves as a momentum to build closer academic relations and unlock opportunities for sustainable collaboration. “We are building a new friendship and hope this relationship can develop into future collaborations.” The two institutions exchanged knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on nursing education and healthcare systems in their respective countries. The interaction provided students with the opportunity to learn about different educational approaches, clinical practices, and evolving healthcare systems, enriching their understanding of the nurse’s role. Following the campus introduction, the programme continued with a skill exchange session, allowing students to share practical nursing skills. Beyond enhancing technical competencies, the session also trained cross-cultural communication, professional collaboration, and decision-making, which are integral to modern evidence-based nursing practice.
