Unhas and MPR RI Collaborate to Strengthen National Values
Makassar (ANTARA) - Hasanuddin University and the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) of the Republic of Indonesia have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate in strengthening the role of academics in developing national values and the constitution.
Acting Secretary General of the MPR RI, Siti Fauziah, in Makassar on Thursday, emphasised the importance of higher education institutions as strategic partners in reinforcing constitutional values and democracy. According to her, universities possess strong academic capacity to contribute ideas on various national and statehood issues.
“Higher education institutions and professors have an important role in providing constructive input, studies, and ideas in the development and strengthening of constitutional life in Indonesia,” Fauziah said after the MoU signing in Makassar. “The synergy between the MPR RI and universities is a strategic step to present a national discourse based on scientific knowledge,” Fauziah continued.
She expressed hope that this cooperation would become a platform for both institutions to develop various collaborative programmes, including seminars, scientific discussions, research, constitutional education, and strengthening national literacy for the public.
Meanwhile, Unhas Rector Prof Dr Jamaluddin Jompa stated that the signing of the MoU not only represents a form of institutional cooperation but also reflects a shared commitment to strengthening academic contributions to national development. “As a university that upholds the principle of impact, Unhas will always be part of supporting policies that have a real impact on society and national development,” said Prof JJ.
