Unhas and Hartford University collaborate on peace studies

Makassar (ANTARA) - Hasanuddin University (Unhas) Makassar has established a partnership with Hartford International University for Religion and Peace in peace studies and research. The collaboration focuses on research in areas of mutual interest, exchange of academic materials, exchange of academics, student mobility, as well as the organisation of seminars, workshops, and other scientific activities.

Unhas Rector Prof Dr Jamaluddin Jompa emphasised the importance of academic collaboration in bringing together diverse perspectives to respond to global challenges, while promoting various local wisdom for peace. At the local level in South Sulawesi, he said, there are several values that can be disseminated as a philosophical basis for peace among human beings.

“In South Sulawesi, we have the values of Sipakatau, Sipakainge, and Sipakalebbi, which teach us to respect one another, remind one another, and uphold human dignity,” said Prof Jamaluddin Jompa.

The partnership between Unhas and Hartford International University is expected to strengthen the relationship between the two institutions, particularly in research and learning development.

President of Hartford International University for Religion and Peace, Sheryl L. Turner PhD, welcomed the collaboration as a space to expand the exchange of knowledge and academic experience between the two institutions.

“This partnership opens opportunities for us to exchange ideas, develop research, and expand shared learning. Collaboration like this also allows us to understand various issues from different perspectives and experiences,” she said.
