Unfortunate Jakarta
Unfortunate Jakarta

There is no denying Jakarta is becoming hotter and hotter. One of the reasons for the rise in temperature is the carbon dioxide emitted as a result of the burning of fuel. Carbon dioxide remains in the air and prevents the heat of the sun that is reflected from the surface of the earth from escaping into the atmosphere. It has resulted in the increase of temperatures. Within the last century, the temperature has risen by about 0.6 centigrade and will keep rising if nothing is done about the problem.
Unfortunately, the government is giving scant attention to a problem that will cost us dearly in the future. For example, the main source of lead is gas that is mainly produced by Pertamina. The government's subsidies are mostly directed to leaded gas, which has made prices of unleaded gas slightly higher. Another example is the poor management of the city parks. According to the city parks agency, 40 percent of Jakarta's area should constitute open parks. That is the ideal, but in reality the lungs of the city only occupy about 3 percent to 6 percent, and they are in a terrible condition.
Environmental problems in Jakarta call for serious attention from all of us, including the government.
