Unfinished Suspension Bridge in Gunung Putri, Bogor Collapses

A suspension bridge that was still under construction experienced a landslide in Gunung Putri, Bogor Regency. The suspension bridge was being built to serve as temporary access for pedestrians while the main bridge is being repaired.

“The collapsed bridge is a newly constructed pedestrian bridge that has not yet been used. Construction is not yet complete,” said the Head of Logistics for the Bogor Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Andi Sumeraldi, when contacted on Monday (22/06/2026).

Andi stated that the cliff supporting the suspension bridge likely collapsed due to heavy rain and erosion from the river current below on Sunday (21/06) night. No casualties were reported in the incident.

“(The cause of the landslide) was due to heavy rain last night, resulting in a landslide. It was also eroded by the river. The work on the suspension bridge is being handled by the PUPR; the technical aspects are under their responsibility. There have been no reports or requests for assistance from the PUPR yet,” said Andi.

For context, the main bridge connecting the Gunung Putri and Klapanunggal areas, commonly known as the Wika Bridge, is currently undergoing repairs. The process is expected to take up to six months.

During the repair process, the Bogor Regency PUPR Department is building a temporary bridge for pedestrian crossings. Meanwhile, motorists must take a detour via the Nambo Highway access road.

“Since the main bridge is undergoing repairs, which has been ongoing for almost six months, the suspension bridge was being built as a temporary measure for pedestrians to cross while the main bridge is being fixed,” Andi added.
