Unexpected Response from Ocha, Student of SMAN 1 Pontianak, Regarding Her Protest Action in the Viral MPR Quiz Competition
A student from SMA Negeri 1 Pontianak, Josepha Alexandra or familiarly known as Ocha, admitted to being surprised that her protest action during the Four Pillars MPR RI Quiz Competition at the West Kalimantan level went viral on social media. “My team and I actually did not expect that the attention would be this big and the video that spread is also booming,” said Ocha to reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday, 13 May 2026. Ocha also conveyed her gratitude to the public for paying attention to the alleged cheating she experienced. She hopes that the case she faced can serve as motivation and spirit for the future. “So from me and the team, we thank the public for their support and positive aspirations towards us. May this become our spirit and motivation to develop and advance further in the future,” she said. Separately, the Chairman of Commission II of the DPR, Rifqinizamy Karsayudha, stated that the judges must issue a public apology. The NasDem Party politician reasoned that the apology is needed so that the MPR institution, as the organiser, can quickly recover. “For me, this is not about who wins or who is wrong. This is about the angle of whether the implementation of this competition was fair or not,” he said. “And most importantly, the MPR institution must continue to position this four pillars quiz competition as a prestigious event. And this is a bridge for us who are given the duty to socialise the four pillars to the public,” he added. Previously, the MPR RI apologised regarding the polemic of the Four Pillars MPR RI Quiz Competition 2026 at the West Kalimantan Province level, which has recently gone viral. The apology was posted through the official Instagram account @mprgoid on Tuesday, 12 May 2026. “The MPR RI through the MPR RI General Secretariat conveys an apology for the negligence of the judging panel that caused the polemic related to the implementation of the Four Pillars MPR RI Quiz Competition in West Kalimantan Province,” it stated. Not only that, the MPR also deactivated the judging panel and the MC of the quiz event. The MPR will also conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the activity.
