Surabaya (ANTARA) — Universitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) has recorded 53,237 applicants for the 2026 Seleksi Nasional Berdasarkan Prestasi (SNBP, National Selection Based on Achievement), a 26.2 per cent increase compared with the previous year's figure of 42,179 applicants, with an intake quota of 6,532 places.

"Unesa's SNBP quota this year is essentially the same as last year. However, because there are nine additional new study programmes, the quota has risen based on the needs of the new programmes to 6,532, up from 6,006 last year," said Martadi, Vice-Rector 1 for Education, Student Affairs and Alumni at Unesa, in Surabaya on Friday.

The number of applicants showed a significant increase of 11,058, or 26.2 per cent, compared with the previous year's 42,179 applicants.

He expressed his appreciation to all participants who had competed through this admissions pathway.

"The high level of interest from prospective students reflects confidence in the quality of an institution that continues to transform itself," he said.

That confidence, he continued, has grown from Unesa's consistency in improving the quality of education and the academic environment, as well as outreach efforts reaching various regions.

Of the total applicants, 27,551 candidates selected Unesa as their first choice and 25,686 as their second choice.

With the registration period having closed on 18 February 2026 at 15:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB), candidates are now awaiting the announcement of results on 31 March 2026.
