The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for Jakarta Province recorded that the number of workers in the capital reached 5.53 million based on the National Labour Force Survey (Sakernas) in February 2026. This figure increased by 57,640 people compared to February 2025.

The Head of BPS Jakarta Province, Kadarmanto, stated that the composition of the labour force in Jakarta in February 2026 consisted of 5.20 million working residents and 333,860 unemployed individuals. Compared to February 2025, the number of workers increased by 57,640 people, and the number of employed residents rose by 62,180 people.

Kadarmanto explained that Jakarta’s open unemployment rate (TPT) based on the Sakernas results for February 2026 was 6.03%. This means that out of 100 workers, there are around six unemployed individuals.

“In February 2026, the TPT experienced a decline of 0.15 percentage points compared to February 2025,” he said.

From the data, the male TPT was 6.54%, higher than the female TPT of 5.28%. Compared to February 2025, the male TPT decreased by 0.23 percentage points, while the female TPT also decreased by 0.01 percentage points.

When viewed by the highest level of education completed by the labour force, the TPT in February 2026 followed a relatively similar pattern to February 2025. In February 2026, the TPT for general high school graduates was the highest compared to other education levels, at 7.58%.

“The lowest TPT occurred among Diploma I/II/III graduates at 3.58%,” he said.

Kadarmanto added that the highest TPT was among general high school graduates and the lowest among Diploma I/II/III graduates. In February 2026, the TPT for vocational high school graduates was 8.15%, for university graduates 3.79%, for those with primary school or below 5.32%, and for junior high school graduates 3.87%.

“Compared to February 2025, the TPT for Diploma I/II/III graduates rose by 0.52 percentage points, for junior high school graduates by 0.87 percentage points, and for university graduates it fell by 0.78 percentage points.
