Unemployment Rate in Depok City Reaches 6.52% in 2026, Dominated by Ages 15-29
Based on data obtained by Media Indonesia from the Depok City Manpower Agency on Saturday afternoon (28/3/2026), the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) for 2026 in Depok is recorded at 6.52%. The unemployment figure in Depok is dominated by young people aged 15-29 years.
The high unemployment rate in Depok City is partly caused by the mismatch between the skills possessed by job seekers and the needs of the labour market (link and match).
‘The unemployment rate in Depok City for 2026 is recorded at 6.52% even though the Depok City Government (Pemkot) has endeavoured to take various steps, including job training,’ said the Deputy Mayor of Depok, Chandra Rahmansyah, on Saturday (28/3).
To reduce the unemployment rate in Depok City, he said that Pemkot Depok will strive to encourage the emergence of new entrepreneurs.
‘We will continue to encourage the birth of new entrepreneurs as a strategic step to curb the unemployment rate that remains a challenge for regional development,’ he stated.
Entrepreneurial employment, he said, is to strengthen more adaptive and sustainable employment programmes. ‘Efforts to reduce the unemployment rate must continue to be strengthened through the creation of new entrepreneurs, expansion of job opportunities, and strengthening of workforce sector programmes,’ he added.
Pemkot Depok, he continued, will train entrepreneurs. ‘We will continue to train new entrepreneurs so that they develop further,’ he said.
He stated that developing entrepreneurship is one of the effective solutions in opening new job opportunities, while also increasing community economic independence.
In addition, he emphasised that Pemkot Depok is also focusing on improving the quality of human resources through skills training and enhancing the competitiveness of the workforce to be able to compete in the job world.
‘Improving workforce quality, strengthening skills, and workforce competitiveness must be a priority in regional development,’ he added.
With these various steps, he continued, Pemkot Depok is optimistic about being able to curb the unemployment rate.
