Like a thin descending line on statistical paper, but in the field, the pressures of life and social issues continue to seek space. The number of unemployed in Jakarta in February 2026 was recorded at 334,000 people. This figure has indeed decreased compared to February 2025, which reached 338,000 people. “It decreased by around 4,54 thousand people compared to February last year,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5/2026), quoted from Antara. From a total workforce of 5.53 million, around six out of 100 people are still unemployed. Jakarta’s Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) only fell slightly from 6.18 percent to 6.03 percent. “In other words, around six out of 100 members of the workforce in Jakarta are unemployed,” he stated. On the other hand, the number of the workforce actually increased to 5.53 million people or up by 57.64 thousand compared to the previous year. From that number, 5.2 million people are employed. This means that the job market is indeed moving, but not all of that movement leads to certainty. Among educational levels, high school and vocational school graduates are the group with the highest unemployment rate. “In February 2026, the TPT for general high school graduates is 7.58 percent,” said Kadarmanto.
