It is saddening to learn that many people have to struggle
hard every day to find some work in order to earn some money.

I saw dozens of male workers sleeping under the Sunter
flyover, in North Jakarta, waiting for somebody who needs their
services. They are available to do any kind of work, as long as
they are paid.

I happened recently to need three of those people to help dig
a ditch along the road opposite my house. I was really touched to
learn of their lives. Many of them may be desperate people who
need work badly for their livelihood. I also feel proud of them
because they strive to work at anything lawful, instead of
resorting to criminal acts.
