Undocumented school building demolished

JAKARTA: West Jakarta administration demolished on Wednesday a school building that was under construction in Pegadungan, Kalideres, as no building permit had been obtained as required by Bylaw No. 7/1991 on regulations and procedures for construction work in the capital.

"We requested that the building owner obtain a permit and also issued a warning that the building would be demolished if the permit was not obtained", said Sutarjat, a senior official of the municipality's construction and supervision office.

"But the construction of the building went ahead as the building owner ignored the regulation," Sutarjat said. -- JP
