Undip student allegedly beaten by 30 department-mates, suffers concussion
An anthropology student in the Social Anthropology Programme of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at Diponegoro University (Undip) in Semarang, identified as A (20), is alleged to have been assaulted by around 30 fellow students from the same department. The victim is reported to have suffered a broken nose and a concussion. The victim’s lawyer, Zainal Abidin Petir, said the incident occurred on 15 November 2025. The client is said to have suffered a broken nose, a concussion, and impairment of the left optic nerve due to the assault. ‘The PKL student who sells nasi goreng was beaten by 30 Undip students from 23:00 to 04:15 WIB, resulting in a broken nose and concussion,’ Zainal told detikcom, on Wednesday (4 March). The victim was treated at Banyumanik 2 Hospital only until 17:00 WIB and then transferred to Bina Kasih Ambarawa Hospital to be nearer to the victim’s home. At Bina Kasih Ambarawa Hospital, the victim was hospitalised from 16 to 21 November 2025. When contacted for confirmation, Semarang City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit chief, AKBP Andika Dharma Sena, said police were investigating the case. ‘The case is under process; witnesses have been questioned and the case is set to be brought forward,’ Andika said. Earlier, a video of the assault went viral on social media after being posted by the Instagram account @zainalpetir_. In the video, the victim’s entire body can be seen battered and injured after the beating.
