Semarang (ANTARA) – Diponegoro University (Undip) in Semarang has qualified 24 Student Creativity Programme (PKM) teams for the 39th National Student Scientific Week (Pimnas) in 2026.

Undip Rector Prof. Suharnomo, speaking in Semarang on Friday, congratulated the teams and encouraged them ahead of the event. “The qualification of 24 Undip PKM teams for Pimnas 39 is proof of the students’ spirit of creativity and innovation,” he said.

This year’s Pimnas will take place from 2 to 7 November, with Undip serving as host. “We hope they will present their best work, uphold Undip’s reputation and put forward ideas that bring tangible benefits to society,” he said.

The selection was based on an official announcement by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. Suharnomo said all the teams had undergone rigorous assessments of their PKM progress and final reports.

The achievement places Undip third nationally among the 10 universities sending the largest numbers of teams, which will compete for the national title.

The qualified projects include two Constructive Idea Video Programme (PKM-VGK) teams, and one team each in the Written Futuristic Idea Programme (PKM-GFT), Community Service Programme (PKM-PM) and Social Humanities Research Programme (PKM-RSH).

The students’ ideas and proposed solutions cover the development of smart health and biomedical technologies based on edge AI, renewable energy innovations and environmentally friendly materials engineered from waste.

Other areas include optimising precision agriculture and food security, as well as solutions for coastal disaster mitigation, strengthening the circular economy and empowering inclusive communities.

Undip Vice-Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. Dr rer nat Ir Heru Susanto said the 24 teams’ qualification was the result of coaching, students’ hard work, collaboration with academic supervisors and the efforts of the wider university community.

“We encourage every team to prepare as thoroughly as possible and to use Pimnas as an opportunity to demonstrate the quality of student innovation,” he said.

With intensive preparation under way, supported by comprehensive mentoring and assistance from university units, Undip hopes all the teams will make the most of their potential and perform at their best.
