The Medical Programme at the University of Education Ganesha (Undiksha) has become the most sought-after course for new student admissions in the 2026 academic year. The level of competition to enter this programme via the national selection route has reached a ratio of 1 to 25.

Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Cooperation at Undiksha, Gede Rasben Dantes, revealed that the high interest from prospective students in the Medical Programme corresponds with increasing public trust in the quality of education offered by the state university in Singaraja.

“The most competitive is indeed Medicine. For the national selection route, the selectivity is approximately 1 to 25, while for the independent route it is about 1 to 10,” Rasben stated.

The Undiksha Medical Programme currently has a quota of 150 new students. This number rose after the programme obtained a ‘Good Once’ accreditation rating.

According to Rasben, aside from Medicine, a number of other programmes are also favourites among prospective students. These include Nursing, Midwifery, Primary School Teacher Education, English Language Education, Law, Accountancy, Management, Computer Science, and Information Systems.

The high level of public enthusiasm has prompted Undiksha to gradually adjust its intake capacity. Overall, the university has a new student admission quota reaching 8,484 individuals this year.

Nevertheless, Undiksha is not targeting to fill the entire quota. The university is only aiming for around 6,000 to 6,500 new students by the close of all admission routes at the end of next July.

“We do not have to fill all the available capacity. A target of around 6,500 students is ideal enough to maintain the quality of educational services while meeting the university’s operational needs,” Rasben explained.

Besides being the programme with the highest competition, Medicine also has the largest tuition fees within Undiksha. The highest Single Tuition Fee (UKT) for the programme reaches Rp 21.4 million per semester, adjusted to the unit cost required for education.

For the independent route, prospective Medical students are also charged an Institutional Development Fee of Rp 150 million, payable once at the start of their studies. This amount represents the maximum limit permitted by the government for a Faculty of Medicine.
