Minister for Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, or Ara, has commended the bravery of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI, in defending state assets in Tanah Abang. Ara fully supports KAI’s initiative to install signs at three locations in Tanah Abang.

“We are the state; KAI is ready to install the signs on Monday. This is a notification to the public so there are no questions,” said Ara after a meeting with Danantara Indonesia, the State-Owned Enterprises Supervisory Board (BP BUMN), the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), and the Anti-Land Mafia Task Force at Wisma Danantara, Jakarta, on Friday (17/4/2026).

Ara stated that the legal basis for KAI’s land as state assets has been conveyed by the Ministry of ATR/BPN. According to data from the Ministry of ATR/BPN, said Ara, the land is registered under the name of PT KAI with HPL number 17 and HPL number 19. “It is clear that the three locations in Tanah Abang are state assets,” Ara emphasised.

Ara mentioned that efforts to maintain and optimise state assets are in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives to use them for the people’s interests. For this reason, Ara also urged the Anti-Land Mafia Task Force to support the process.

“The Task Force is also ready to work if anyone occupies state land; they must clearly state the reasons and basis. This is state assets. This is a state of law; the state must not lose because the state is right and the objective is also right,” said Ara.
