Jakarta — Driver condition is a critical factor in determining road safety during travel, particularly on long journeys such as mudik (holiday migration).

Drivers are therefore urged not to force themselves to continue driving if they feel tired or drowsy.

“Please also pay attention to rest periods during journeys. Drivers should not force themselves to drive continuously without breaks, as a tired body condition can reduce concentration,” Jusri told Kompas.com earlier this week.

“There is something called a power nap, which is short sleep undertaken to restore energy and increase focus before resuming the journey,” said Jusri.

Jusri explained that drowsiness whilst driving should not be taken lightly. If forced, this condition can reduce the driver’s ability to respond to situations on the road.

With sufficient short rest, the body can become refreshed again, allowing the journey to continue more safely and comfortably.

“Short sleep like this can help the body and brain return to freshness, so the driver can return to driving with greater focus and safety,” said Jusri.
