PT Ekamas Mora Republik Tbk (MoraRepublic) together with HMN Technologies Co., Limited (HMN Tech) have completed the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) stage for the wet plant of the Moratelindo International Cable System-3 (MIC-3) project. This marks an important step in the development of a high-capacity undersea cable infrastructure connecting Indonesia and Singapore. The MIC-3 project is designed to link Singapore with Batam Island through the installation of two 32FP branching units along the submarine cable route. MoraRepublic is also preparing for network expansion via two reserved branching units, including potential connectivity to Jakarta. The system will strengthen high-speed communication links between Singapore, a global digital hub, and Indonesia, one of the world’s most populous nations. Beyond enhancing cross-border connectivity, MIC-3 is expected to drive digital infrastructure integration in the Singapore-Johor-Batam area. The network is projected to accelerate digital economic growth and support the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology and data centres in Southeast Asia. From a technological standpoint, MIC-3 is designed with a future-proof approach using two latest-generation 32FP branching units from HMN Tech, equipped with 16FP optical switching technology. This system enables high-performance optical switching capabilities, providing greater network access flexibility and scalability for future bandwidth demands. The technology also allows for precise diversion of communication services between trunk and branch paths, enabling the system to adapt dynamically to increasing digital network requirements. This is considered crucial for supporting the long-term growth of the regional digital ecosystem. As strategic infrastructure, MIC-3 utilises HMN Tech’s repeatered 32FP submarine cable, which offers very large capacity and low latency. The network is designed to anticipate surges in bandwidth demand and serve as a key foundation for the development of the regional digital industry. Once commercially operational, MIC-3 will be integrated with MoraRepublic’s domestic and international networks. This integration is expected to strengthen cross-border digital collaboration in Southeast Asia. MoraRepublic’s Chief Technology Officer Michael C. McPhail stated that MIC-3 is a strategic project that strengthens regional digital connectivity. He noted that the project provides a high-capacity connectivity gateway linking Indonesia and Singapore, while also enabling future large-capacity network expansion through the prepared branching flexibility. He added that MIC-3 will provide new impetus for digital economic growth in the region. HMN Tech’s Executive Vice President Ma Yanfeng affirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the construction of a global high-speed backbone network. He said that as AI technology develops globally, the demand for international connectivity is moving towards greater capacity, higher flexibility, and stronger network resilience. He added that HMN Tech will continue to support global digital connectivity through core technologies designed for the AI era. MoraRepublic is an integrated digital infrastructure and services company formed from the merger of PT Mora Telematika Indonesia Tbk and PT Eka Mas Republik.
