The family of the late Mad Sunarto in Tugu Village, Buayan District, Kebumen Regency, lost their home after it was completely destroyed by fire.

In response to this situation, the local government, alongside several other parties, is now preparing assistance to rebuild a more decent residence for the family.

The Regent of Kebumen, Lilis Nuryani, inspected the fire site on Thursday (1/10). During the visit, Lilis distributed aid in the form of household furniture, basic food supplies, and cash to the victim’s family. Subsequent support will focus on rebuilding the home for the family, who are classified as underprivileged.

“We will provide assistance through collaboration with the Social Affairs Office, the Red Cross, and other elements, including the Youth Organisation (Karang Taruna), to work together in building the house for the late Mr Mad Sunarto,” said Lilis.

The house, occupied by the deceased’s two children, Tugimin and Tursini, caught fire on Saturday (26/9) at approximately 17:00 WIB. There were no casualties, but material losses are estimated to be between Rp20 million and Rp30 million.

The house, an old traditional Javanese construction, is suspected to have caught fire due to an electrical short circuit. The fire was successfully extinguished around 17:30 WIB after firefighters, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), PLN (the state electricity company), and local authorities from Buayan arrived at the scene.

The construction of the new residence is planned to be carried out through a communal effort (gotong royong) involving the Social Affairs Office, the Red Cross, Baznas, BPBD, Karang Taruna, and other relevant parties. Tugimin’s house is also planned to be relocated and integrated with the residence of his relative, Turasman, which is located adjacent to the site of the fire.

Turasman, representing the family, expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided.

“On behalf of the family, I would like to thank all parties for their help. I hope this assistance can be utilised to the best of our ability,” he said.
