Underground Multifunction Space at Hotel Indonesia Roundabout Targeted for Completion in 2027

Construction of the 4,439 square metre underground multifunction space (extended concourse) at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout has reached 24 percent as of August 2026. The project is targeted for completion in June 2027.

“The target is for this to be a gift for Jakarta’s fifth centenary and it will be inaugurated during the Jakarta anniversary celebrations,” said PT ITJ President Director Ferdiansyah Roestam in Jakarta on Tuesday (25/8).

The underground multifunction space at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout is a project of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) through its subsidiary, PT Integrasi Transit Jakarta (ITJ).

One of the challenges in the project, he said, is that it is the first underground extended concourse undertaken in Indonesia. Therefore, there is no existing example to replicate.

The project, valued at Rp148.2 billion, he said, if successful, will be followed by other extended concourse projects in Jakarta.

“We have to read the building development map in the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout area and also read the underground cable map,” he said.

The underground multifunction space at the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, he explained, is connected to existing buildings in the area. The first access point is planned to connect directly to Plaza Indonesia and Grand Hyatt. Meanwhile, the second access point will connect directly to Wisma Nusantara and Hotel Pullman.

In addition, the multifunction space will also be connected to the Transjakarta Hotel Indonesia Roundabout bus stop via a lift.

“Transjakarta users can access it directly and connect to the Jakarta MRT Station,” he explained.
