Undergoing Skin Graft Surgery, Andrie Yunus Misses Hearing in Acid Attack Case
Jakarta - The Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, is confirmed to be absent from the hearing in the acid attack case carried out by four TNI members.
The acid attack case against Andrie Yunus involves members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS), namely Sergeant Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetia, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.
During the trial, the judge inquired about the progress of summoning the victim witness, Andrie Yunus.
“Before that, I ask about the progress of summoning Mr AY,” asked the Chief Judge Fredy Ferdian at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday (6/4/2026).
“Then on 4 May, LPSK responded to our letter that Mr Andre Yunus is not yet able to attend as a witness in this trial,” revealed Iswadi.
Iswadi explained that Andrie is currently scheduled to undergo skin graft surgery and thus cannot attend the hearing agenda for witness examination.
“Because he is still undergoing medical procedures planned by the doctor to treat according to his needs. Information from LPSK, as such,” clarified Iswadi.
“Today medical procedure. Is there still surgery or treatment?” asked the judge.
“Information from LPSK, skin graft surgery,” replied the prosecutor.
If he cannot attend in person at the Jakarta Military Court, Andrie Yunus is expected to provide testimony via online or Zoom on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
“Yes, 13th Wednesday. So the second alternative, we use video conference,” said the judge.
“Agreed, we use video conference,” replied the prosecutor.
Previously, four Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) personnel were charged with splashing acid on KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus in the Central Jakarta area.
The four defendants are Second Sergeant Edi Sudarko, First Lieutenant Budhi Hariyanto Widhi, Captain Nandala Dwi Prasetya, and First Lieutenant Sami Lakka.
“The defendants considered that Mr Andrie Yunus had insulted the TNI institution and even trampled on the TNI institution,” said Military Prosecutor Lieutenant Colonel Corps of Law (Chk) TNI Muhammad Iswadi during the hearing at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Wednesday.
The four defendants are charged with multiple articles, namely Article 469 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code as the primary charge, Article 468 paragraph (1) as subsidiary, and Articles 467 paragraphs (1) and (2) as further subsidiary, in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023.
