Undelivered mail

Undelivered mail

From Media Indonesia

I sent two important letters to Tanjungsari, Banyuwangi, East
Java, in November and December 1995. Neither ever arrived. I only
learned this when I visited my hometown during the Idul Fitri
holiday. Even a telegram I sent in January 1996 never arrived.

I was told that letters of other villagers had also not been
delivered. This is apparently because the postman who used to
deliver letters to our village moved and was replaced by another
employee.

All letters destined for Tanjungsari are transferred to
Benculuk Post Office. This is where the problem starts. The
postman is reluctant to deliver mail to locations about four
kilometers away from the post office. Recipients of mail are
usually willing to give tips of between Rp 300 and Rp 500 for
every letter delivered. If this bad service continues, I believe
piles of mail will be left to rot in the Benculuk Post Office.
Would the supervising Post and Gyro Office do something about it?
