Undana Research Must Impact Regional Problem-Solving

Deputy Minister for Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Wamendiktisaintek) Fauzan has stated that Nusa Cendana University (Undana) in Kupang possesses abundant human resources (SDM) and relevant programmes to drive research and community service that impact regional development.

“From the HR perspective, this campus has abundant human resources. From the programme perspective, it is also very much in line with what the Deputy said earlier. It is very relevant, there is research and there is community service,” he said in Kupang on Thursday.

He made the remarks during a working visit to Kupang, where he attended a coordination meeting on poverty alleviation and the launch of the Garuda programme.

During his visit to Undana in Kupang, Fauzan said the potential human resources at the university are an important asset in producing research capable of answering the various needs of the community in East Nusa Tenggara.

He stressed that research needs to be concentrated on regional needs so that research results truly provide tangible benefits for the community.

“Research is concentrated on regional needs so that research has an impact, community service has an impact. Not just to fulfil the obligations of a lecturer and student, but what is done by lecturers and students contributes to overcoming regional problems,” he said.

Fauzan expressed hope that the research and community service approach oriented towards community needs will continue to be strengthened within higher education institutions, so that campuses can become strategic partners for regional governments in supporting science and technology-based development.
