Uncovering Roy Suryo's Wealth of Rp4.1 Billion: Dozens of Luxury Cars and Properties
Roy Suryo’s name currently dominates national headlines after reports emerged that he was detained by investigators in connection with an alleged defamation case and accusations regarding a fake diploma belonging to Indonesia’s 7th President, Joko Widodo. Amid the developments of this legal case, public attention is not only focused on the ongoing legal process but also on the wealth of the former Minister of Youth and Sports.
A figure long known as a telematics expert, politician, academic, and former state official, Roy Suryo has a lengthy track record in the public sphere. It is therefore unsurprising that many people are curious about his sources of income over the years and the actual total value of his assets.
Based on the latest State Officials’ Wealth Report (LHKPN) submitted when he ran as a candidate for the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) in 2018, Roy Suryo is recorded as having a net worth of Rp4.19 billion. This figure is the result of subtracting total assets of Rp5.08 billion from debts amounting to Rp893.44 million.
The most striking aspect of Roy Suryo’s wealth report is his personal vehicle collection. Unlike many officials who rely on property as their primary asset, Roy’s greatest wealth lies in his car collection. In the report, the value of vehicle assets reached approximately Rp2.62 billion, representing more than half of his total wealth.
What surprised the public was the number of vehicles owned. Roy is recorded as possessing 35 Mercedes-Benz cars from various generations, ranging from classic models to more modern releases. Some of his collection cars even date from the 1950s to the 1970s. Additionally, there are several models with considerable value, such as a 2000 Mercedes-Benz SLK 230, a 2000 Mercedes-Benz S 230, a 2003 Mercedes-Benz ML 430, and several models produced in 2008 and 2010. This collection demonstrates Roy Suryo’s interest in classic vehicles, particularly the Mercedes-Benz brand, which has been known for years as one of the world’s premium car manufacturers.
Beyond vehicles, Roy Suryo also owns assets in the form of land and buildings, all located in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
