Uncovering Jiwasraya and Asabri Money Laundering Networks, Police Urged to Pursue Intellectual Actors

The National Leadership Council of the Indonesian Hindu Youth Association (DPN Peradah Indonesia) has expressed full support for the Indonesian National Police (Polri) in thoroughly investigating alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU). The firm action by the police is considered a crucial moment for law enforcement in the country. Secretary General of DPN Peradah Indonesia, Ricky Satriawan, stated that the courage of police investigators in tracing illicit fund flows and raiding several locations allegedly owned by powerful figures marks a significant milestone in the history of Indonesian law enforcement. “What the police are doing now must be a real step towards the principle of equality before the law. DPN Peradah Indonesia appreciates the police for not hesitating to take action against anyone, even going so far as to target and search a residence allegedly belonging to a high-ranking law enforcement official,” Ricky Satriawan told reporters on Sunday. Ricky stressed that this legal action is crucial because it concerns the public interest. Based on the investigation process, the uncovering of this case stems from alleged corruption in the coal supply for PT PLN (Persero). Additionally, the case targets efforts to dismantle the money laundering network at PT Asabri (Persero) and PT Asuransi Jiwasraya, as well as the settlement of debt obligations of PT CBS-KNI. “The alleged corruption in PLN’s coal supply has a direct impact on the wider community, which is strongly suspected to be one of the causes of the massive blackout in Sumatra some time ago. While the people suffer from an energy crisis, a handful of individuals are allegedly laundering the proceeds of their crimes from the Asabri and Jiwasraya scandals. The law must cut down these dirty practices without compromise,” he said. Ricky highlighted the staggering findings from searches conducted by officers at 12 locations in Jakarta and West Java. The search locations included a restaurant in Cipete, a money changer, offices in Jakarta, and a luxury house in Sentul City, Bogor Regency, allegedly belonging to a prosecutor’s office official. From this series of operations, the police seized evidence in the form of 74 kilograms of gold bars and cash totalling approximately Rp476 billion, consisting of 4,767,300 US dollars, 14,083,800 Singapore dollars, and over Rp100 million. “This evidence of 74 kilograms of gold and hundreds of billions of rupiah deeply wounds the people’s hearts. This proves how massive white-collar crime is in robbing state money. Therefore, the principle of law without discrimination must be absolutely upheld. No individual or institution should be above the law,” Ricky asserted. In his closing statement, Ricky invited all elements of society, especially the younger generation across Indonesia, to continue overseeing this legal process to ensure it runs transparently and free from any political intervention. “DPN Peradah Indonesia will continue to stand at the forefront supporting the cleansing of this republic from corruptors,” he concluded.
