Jakarta, VIVA – The failure of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to interrogate the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, is rumoured to be due to the lack of approval from President Prabowo Subianto.

Criminal Law Expert from the Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta, Chairul Huda, stated that, in terms of material substance and the construction of the case, Nusron’s alleged involvement is considered quite strong in the suspected bribery case regarding land service management and the unblocking and splitting of HGB (Right to Build) land for Summarecon in Bogor Regency.

“I believe that regarding Nusron Wahid, the obstacle is that there is no presidential approval yet to examine the individual concerned,” said Chairul Huda in his statement on Friday, 2 October 2026.

He explained that the strong suspicion of Nusron’s involvement refers to the series of sting operations (OTT) conducted by the KPK regarding the management of HGB in Bogor Regency. This subsequently led to the discovery of cash evidence amounting to more than Rp 106.3 billion at the residence of one of the suspects.

Nevertheless, Nusron’s status as an assistant official to the President in the Red and White Cabinet requires special procedures to conduct legal examinations against him.

“My suspicion is that, up to this point, presidential approval for the examination of Nusron has not been granted. This is what is hindering the ability to examine Nusron Wahid or clarify his connection to several alleged corruption cases,” he said.

In addition to the issue of presidential permission, Chairul added that KPK investigators also still require time to conduct deeper material evidence investigations. One issue highlighted by the public in mass media and social media is the allegation of corruption funds flowing into the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Muktamar (National Congress).

“In the mass media and social media, we see information regarding allegations that a certain amount of money flowed to the NU Muktamar, for example, recently. And this has been asserted by several parties within the NU circles themselves, which might be related to Nusron Wahid or other figures,” said Chairul.

According to Chairul, these allegations require further clarification and legal proof by the KPK. He noted that the KPK may currently be conducting deeper investigations into the potential links between the alleged corruption and various activities suspected of being funded by the proceeds of the corruption.
