Unattended Bag Found at Denpasar's Niti Mandala Field Causes Alarm

An unattended bag was found in the bushes at Puputan Margarana Niti Mandala field, at the Bali People’s Struggle Monument (MPRB) Bajra Sandhi in Denpasar, on Saturday (11/7/2026). The bag was cream-coloured with a batik motif.

A resident exercising in the area initially spotted the bag lying beneath shrubbery and promptly reported the finding.

“Feeling suspicious, the resident immediately reported the find to the Bajra Sandhi area security,” said the Head of East Denpasar Police Sector (Kapolsek), AKP I Gusti Ngurah Agung Udiana, in a written statement on Saturday (11/7/2026).

Security personnel at MPRB Bajra Sandhi checked the bag at the scene together with the reporting resident. Security then informed the community police officer (bhabinkamtibmas) of East Denpasar Police Sector.

The Complete Small Unit (UKL) of East Denpasar Police Sector, led by supervising officer Ipda I Wayan Yasa, examined the bag’s condition. The inspection was carried out carefully and in accordance with procedure.

When opened, the bag was found to contain only clothing and dining utensils. No items with the potential to cause danger were found. After it was confirmed safe, the bag was taken to the Renon Police Sub-sector.

“The examination found no dangerous objects or items that could threaten public safety,” added Udiana.

Udiana urged the public not to touch suspicious objects found in public places. He also asked people not to panic if they come across such items, and to report them to security personnel or the police.

It is worth noting that Balinese residents often grow anxious when finding ownerless objects such as suitcases and bags. This is reportedly because they remain traumatised by the Bali bombings several years ago.
