Unair Responds to Cenuk Widiyastrisna: Lecturer Income Not Solely from Basic Salary
Universitas Airlangga (Unair) has emphasised that a lecturer’s income cannot be measured solely by their basic salary (gapok), but rather by their total take-home pay (THP). The statement was made in response to testimony given by Unair Faculty of Law lecturer Cenuk Widiyastrisna Sayekti during a lawsuit hearing at the Constitutional Court (MK).
Unair’s Director of Human Resources, Talent Management, and Organisational Development, Prof Radian Salman, explained that the basic salary is just one administrative component on a lecturer’s payslip. There are other components lecturers receive as long as they fulfil their obligations.
“A lecturer’s income cannot be viewed only from the basic salary, but must be based on the take-home pay, which consists of various income components,” Radian said in Surabaya, East Java, on Friday (3/7/2026).
Radian detailed that a lecturer’s fixed monthly income components include the basic salary, functional allowance, family allowance, and an additional functional allowance paid around the middle of the month. Furthermore, lecturers also receive a 13th-month salary, a Lecturer Income Improvement Allowance (TPK) 1, and a Religious Holiday Allowance (THR) equivalent to the basic salary.
