'Unaccepted' Porlasi board slams KONI
JAKARTA: The "disputed" board of the Indonesian Windsurfing Association (Porlasi) criticized the National Sports Council (KONI) for violating the sporting code of ethics.
The criticism stems from KONI's support for the outgoing board of Porlasi. Koni rejected the result of the 2002 national congress that elected the new board, and has asked the outgoing board, to plan another congress next month.
"I feel devastated by what KONI has done. It's obvious that KONI doesn't respect the 2002 congress," Raymond Kotambunan, the secretary-general of the new board, told reporters.
During the 2002 congress, Raymond was assigned to lead a Team of Five tasked to form the new board. The proposed board was submitted to KONI in February but failed to gain its approval.
The new board has Datuk Hakim Thantawi as chairman, apparently to the chagrin of the outgoing board, which had backed KONI chief for planning and budgeting Indra Kartasasmita, as candidate for Porlasi chairman.--JP
