UNITED NATIONS (ANTARA) – UN Secretary-General António Guterres has consistently called on Iran and other countries to co-operate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on nuclear issues, UN Deputy Spokesperson Daniela Gross De Almeida said on Tuesday.

“The Secretary-General has been very consistent in his calls for Iran to co-operate with the IAEA and, indeed, for all countries to work closely with the IAEA on nuclear issues,” De Almeida told reporters.

Earlier, IAEA Director-General Rafael Grossi urged Iran to allow experts from the agency to inspect the country’s nuclear facilities. The agency has also encouraged Iran to consider gradual steps that would pave the way for inspections to resume in the Islamic Republic.

Iran has reduced its level of co-operation with the IAEA after the United States and Israel attacked its main nuclear facilities in June 2025.

In June, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Grossi had failed to condemn the US and Israeli attacks.

Then, in early October, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his country was ready for nuclear inspections, but warned that Iranian nuclear sites had previously been attacked after IAEA visits.
