UN public exhibition planned for Thursday
JAKARTA (JP): The United Nations here will mark on Thursday the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with a public exhibition, it was announced Tuesday.
Resident Coordinator Ravi Rajan will commence the event at the United Nations Information Center (UNIC) office in the Gedung Dewan Pers building on Jl. Kebun Sirih, Central Jakarta.
The exhibition will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the screening of a video-taped message from the UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
Rajan will also announce the launching in Geneva of a website consisting of the Universal Declaration in 250 languages -- including in seven Indonesian local languages: Acehnese, Balinese, Bugis dialect, Javanese, Madurese, Minangkabau and Sundanese.

This year's theme for the commemoration of the Human Rights Day worldwide is "All Human Rights for All".
As part of the commemoration, the Thursday's event will also include the inauguration of a photo exhibit of the archival material on the story of the UN and human rights.
All UN offices in Indonesia will also make available information regarding the UN to the public including publications, articles, pictures, posters, and other information material on human rights.
A documentary film titled For Everyone, Everywhere prepared by the Department of Public Information of the United Nations for this year's anniversary will also be screened.
"The Special Event at the United Nations Information Center is open to all members of the public especially university and college students, non-governmental organizations and the media," UNIC said in a statement.
