UNITED NATIONS (ANTARA) - The UN Security Council has expressed deep concern over the continued violence across Sudan, including in the Kordofan and Darfur regions, and called on all parties involved in the conflict to immediately cease hostilities.

In a press statement on Tuesday, the UN Security Council members strongly condemned reports of repeated drone attacks targeting civilians, civilian infrastructure, and humanitarian personnel, as well as their property and assets, including several attacks impacting the World Food Programme since early February 2026.

“Deliberate attacks against humanitarian personnel, facilities and assets may constitute war crimes,” the council members said, urging all parties to comply with international law and relevant UN resolutions.

They also condemned attacks carried out by Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF), violations against civilians, and various reports of arbitrary detentions and conflict-related sexual violence, calling for accountability for these acts.

The council expressed deep concern over the hunger caused by the conflict and the extreme food insecurity, and demanded safe, secure and unimpeded humanitarian access and the passage of civilians.

The UN Security Council members welcomed the agreement on a humanitarian ceasefire, which is expected to lead to an immediate cessation of hostilities, de-escalation of the situation, mitigation of regional impacts, and support for an inclusive, civilian-led transition that realizes the aspirations of the Sudanese people for a peaceful, stable and prosperous future in line with the principles of national ownership.

They urged all UN member states to refrain from external interference that seeks to exacerbate the conflict and instability, support efforts towards lasting peace, comply with their obligations under international law, and implement relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Reaffirming their commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Sudan, the UN Security Council members also reiterated their rejection of the establishment of parallel governance structures in areas controlled by the RSF.
