UN Details Brutal Scale of Israeli Settler Terrorism in the West Bank
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has released the latest figures illustrating the massive scale of Jewish settler terrorism in the occupied West Bank. The report recorded more than a thousand crimes that could potentially trigger an explosion of conflict.
OCHA announced that it has documented more than 1,330 incidents involving Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of 2026. The attacks have resulted in Palestinian casualties and damage to Palestinian property.
This was conveyed in a statement issued by the UN office, which expressed deep concern over the escalation of violence across the West Bank in recent days. The office stated that since Thursday, at least eight Palestinians, including a child, have been killed. Homes, mosques, trees, and agricultural facilities have been burned or vandalised—some completely destroyed—while at least ten Palestinian families have been forced to flee their homes due to this latest wave of violence.
Palestinian, Israeli, and international human rights organisations assert that the Israeli army allows attacks carried out by settlers and even participates in them. The UN office noted that Israeli forces have tightened restrictions on Palestinian movement and their access to various areas of the West Bank, preventing thousands from obtaining essential services, including emergency medical care and access to livelihoods.
OCHA reported that since the beginning of this year until last Saturday, 77 Palestinians, including 18 children, have been killed by actions of Israeli forces or Israeli settlers. The office reiterated the humanitarian community’s call for immediate protection of civilians and strict adherence to international humanitarian law and international human rights law, while stressing the importance of holding perpetrators of violations accountable.
These attacks by Israel pave the way for the formal annexation of the West Bank, which would thwart the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state as stipulated in relevant UN resolutions.
