UMY international program opened
YOGYAKARTA: In the next academic year of 2005-2006, the international relations department of Yogyakarta Muhammadiyah University (UMY) will offer an international program in international relations.
Former speaker of the People's Consultative Assembly Amien Rais, who is also a former deputy rector of the university, officially launched the new program earlier this week with university rector Khoiruddin Bashori.
According to head of the new program Bambang Cipto, the international class will be conducted in English and will also involve a number of native speakers as lecturers. To make it more effective, each class will be limited to only 40 students.
Other supporting facilities, including air-conditioned rooms, multi-media aids, and free Internet access will also be provided to students of this program.
"We have been preparing the program for the last three years and have also gained full support both from the university and foreign educational institutions that have long been our partners in education programs," Bambang Cipto added. --JP
