UMP Representatives Back President for Focus on Welfare of the 'Little People'
Several members of the academic community from Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang (UMP) have stated their agreement with the ideas presented by President Prabowo Subianto at the 2026 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) - National Symposium at the JCC, Jakarta, on Friday. According to them, the thoughts conveyed by President Prabowo are aimed at improving the welfare of the “wong cilik” or vulnerable community groups. “President Prabowo Subianto is very down-to-earth. He knows Indonesia very well and always wants to improve the welfare of the people. Bravo, Mr President Prabowo Subianto!” said Dwi Evi Puspitawati, an academic representing Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang at the JCC, Jakarta, on Friday evening. During the opening session of the National Symposium, which was attended by 2,600 academics from various campuses across Indonesia, including 300 researchers and scientists from BRIN, President Prabowo delivered his briefing directly. The session was open to journalists for over 40 minutes before continuing behind closed doors for more than an hour. After the first day’s session, Dwi Evi Puspitawati, representing UMP, assessed that President Prabowo’s briefing demonstrated a strong understanding of Indonesia’s conditions. According to Dwi, President Prabowo also showed his commitment to improving the people’s welfare. Echoing this sentiment, RA Lindrayeni, also representing Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang, admitted she was impressed by Prabowo’s concern for the common people. “Mr Prabowo is very down-to-earth. He cares deeply for the little people. He also remembers history very well and never forgets it. In short, Mr Prabowo is top-notch,” she said. Both representatives also prayed that Prabowo would always be granted health and strength in leading the nation. “We hope he remains healthy and strong in facing the challenges in our beloved Indonesia. Stay spirited, Mr President, we always support you,” said the representative from Universitas Muhammadiyah Palembang.
