Ummat Party Leverages AI Technology to Face 2029 Elections
The Ummat Party intends to maximise the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology as part of its strategy to achieve victory in the 2029 elections. General Chairman of the Ummat Party, Ridho Rahmadi, stated that their primary target is to secure seats in Senayan.
The Ummat Party previously placed 21 cadres at the district/city level across Indonesia in their inaugural 2024 elections. Ridho explained that the acceleration of AI technology stems from the bitter experience in the previous election’s verification process. Therefore, they plan to fully shift to a better digital system for the 2029 elections.
“Our main challenge in the previous election lay in the internal data input process, which was still semi-analogue, where a single variable error could result in TMS (not meeting requirements) status,” said Ridho during the National Deliberation (Munas) in Yogyakarta on Sunday, 3 May 2026.
He explained that a single identity card (KTP) has 8 to 12 variables that previously had to be entered manually. This made the process highly risky, leading to potentially fatal errors.
To address this vulnerability, the Ummat Party has developed an internal system with AI assistance to ensure the accuracy of membership data and other administrative requirements.
“We have already started, are using, and it’s running. But we want to make this AI more extensive in the form of a more integrated system,” he said.
According to him, the most crucial initial step for the party now is to ensure qualification as an election participant. In addition to improving internal data, the Ummat Party will also utilise artificial intelligence in digital campaigning and social media.
The use of this technology is directed towards optimising content and public sentiment analysis. However, Ridho emphasised that AI serves only as a support, not a replacement for human roles.
This strategy is expected to expand the party’s reach to constituents more effectively and measurably compared to conventional methods.
The success of securing 21 seats at the local level in the 2024 inaugural elections is now being used as a pilot model through various technical guidance programmes for cadres who will run in future periods.
General Secretary of the Ummat Party, Taufik Hidayat, explained that the momentum of this Munas, coinciding with the party’s 5th anniversary, has resulted in agreements among thousands of executives from across Indonesia to move forward.
“We are increasingly optimistic following the issuance of the Decree on the Approval of the DPP Management for the 2025-2030 period by the Ministry of Law at the end of April,” he said.
This ensures that the party’s future steps will not be hindered by internal issues, as there is no longer any legal dualism in the Ummat Party’s structure.
